    At least 12 children sexually abused each day, reveals report

    Data has revealed that 2,211 children were sexually abused in Pakistan in 2022 from January to June. This horrifying number comes to approximately 12 children who are abused each day, Sahil, an NGO that works against child sexual abuse has stated. Sahil monitors national, regional, and local newspapers at its Head Office and 4 Regional Offices to collect data on Child Sexual Abuse, Abduction, and early forced marriage cases. Cruel Numbers is published annually, comprising these statistics.

    At least 1,207 girls and 1,004 boys were reported to be victims of sexual abuse.

    The figures represent a dramatic contrast to the previous year’s Jan-June data, which showed 1,896 instances, indicating a 17 per cent increase.
    According to the statistics, there are 1,050 incidents where the abusers are acquainted with the victims or the victim’s family, and 409 cases where strangers are involved in the abuse.

    In addition, the data compiled by the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) and the Centre for Research, Development and Communication (CRDC) revealed that at least 133 women were kidnapped and as many as 85 were subjected to rape in Pakistan in the month of July alone.

    The Police have arrested the prime suspect. SP Model Town Hasan Javed Bhatti said that a case has been registered against the accused and the Gender Cell is handling the case.

    A meme claiming that three people with bloodied bandages on their abdomens sold their kidneys to purchase the latest Apple iPhone 14 has been condemned by a Thai doctor.
    

    The executive director of the Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center, Dr Sophon Mekthon, issued a warning about the illegality of organ trading in Thailand and denounced the meme that had been going around since it appeared on Thai social media over the weekend.

    A nursing home in Taiwan has issued an apology for hiring strippers to entertain senior citizens.
    

    The Taoyuan Veterans Home, a state-run facility for retired army veterans, hired a stripper to perform for a group of retired seniors in commemoration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is an important occasion in Chinese culture.     After a video from the event was widely shared on social media, the facility came under intense criticism. The video shows the scantily-clad dancer performing for a crowd of about a dozen men in wheelchairs. The men can be seen laughing, clapping, and enjoying the performance.
    

    “The intention of the event was to entertain residents and make them happy. We are very sorry for the offence that was caused,” the senior care facility said in a statement after receiving backlash.

    Indian weddings are full of drama and several stories of celebrations gone wrong have gone viral on social media. The latest to join this dubious hall of fame is a video of a groom running away from his wedding in Hyderabad.

    During the wedding reception, a furious Dr. Sana entered the venue with policemen in tow. The groom panicked as soon as he saw his first wife and ran away from the back door.
    

    “My sister married Nazeer soon after he came back from New Zealand in 2019. During the Covid-19 lockdown, he was stuck here and we took care of his expenses. However, he demanded Rs. 1.5 million which we could not pay. He then began staying away from my sister,” Sana’s brother told Deccan Chronicle.
    

    Dr Samreen also told media that she has given away almost all her savings to her husband but he still chose to remarry which angered her.
    

    “I am a doctor. During the second wave of COVID-19, I served Syed’s uncle who was COVID positive and gave most of my savings to him during the lockdown,” said Sana.

    Saudi police have arrested a man who claimed to have travelled to Mecca to perform an Umrah pilgrimage on behalf of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

    A statement issued by the state of Saudi Arabia said the police have arrested a resident of Yemeni nationality who appeared in a video clip carrying a banner inside the Grand Mosque, violating the regulations and instructions for umrah.

    In Karachi’s Korangi and Baldia Town neighbourhoods on Monday, two alleged robbers were killed and another was injured.
    

    Within the confines of the Awami Colony police station, a citizen shot and killed two suspects close to Bilal Colony in Karachi’s Korangi area. 
    

    The men who were killed, according to the police, were thieves who attempted to steal money from two people who were leaving a private bank in Korangi. The residents, however, resisted and succeeded in stealing a gun from one of the criminals.
    

    Later, one of the bystanders fired on them, gravely hurting them. After the incident, a large crowd gathered and violently battered the injured guys. One of them perished as a result, and the other passed away while travelling to the hospital, according to The News.
    

    The person who killed the robbers, Abrar, owned a business in Korangi, according to SHO Jamal Leghari. The officer said that his check had been turned down at the bank when he had gone with his boss Faizan.
    

    The man had a cell phone and Rs50,000 in cash, which was taken from him by two motorcycle-riding suspects as he and his colleague were returning from the bank.
    

    Abrar and Faizan resisted the muggers throughout the mugging, and the former was able to take the muggers’ pistol and shoot them. Police have opened an investigation and registered a case.
    

    In another news, a robbery suspect was hurt while he and his accomplice attempted to rob a medical supply business in the Baldia Town neighbourhood. The store owner resisted and fired shots at them.

    Myth 3: You can get infected only once in a lifetime
    

    Many individuals assume that once infected with the dengue virus, they cannot be infected again. This is possibly the most damaging fallacy about dengue, as it raises the likelihood of more people falling victim to the disease. While our immune system is capable of combating dengue, it does not develop immunity to the virus.
    

    Myth 4: Drinking papaya juice can cure dengue
    

    Dengue fever cannot be cured with papaya leaf extract. According to research, papaya leaf extract may aid in platelet synthesis. However, platelet counts are not the only issue to be concerned about when it comes to dengue, and not every patient will have low platelet counts.
    

    Myth 5: Dengue is contagious
    

    No, dengue is not contagious. It does not transmit from person to person. It is only transmitted when an infected Aedes mosquito bites a person, who then develops dengue and symptoms appear 4 to 5 days after being bitten.     Karachi is witnessing a sharp increase in dengue fever cases with 113 new cases of the vector-borne disease reported in the city in the past 24 hours.
    

    According to officials at government-run hospitals, the number of dengue cases in Karachi has surpassed 3,000 this year. So far in September, 843 people in Karachi have contracted the virus. Approximately 3,428 dengue cases have been registered in the province of Sindh overall. Yesterday, no dengue cases were reported in the districts of Hyderabad and Larkana. It should be noted that a large number of dengue cases have been reported in Karachi’s East area.
    

    In the past 24 hours, 62 patients were diagnosed with dengue in Lahore, while 55 new cases were reported in Islamabad.
    

    Dengue fever is one of the world’s leading mosquito-borne illnesses and infects millions across the globe annually.

    A 10-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death in Karachi. As per the details, an 18-year-old tenant, who rented the child’s father’s house, raped and then strangled the girl. The incident occurred in the Mehmoodabad neighbourhood of Karachi.
    

    Police took the girl to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where she was pronounced dead.

    He further said that his daughter used to go to Zeeshan’s room to give him food. On Saturday, she did not return from Zeeshan’s room which made her family suspicious and they started looking for the girl.
    

    Zeeshan has been arrested by the police and he has confessed to raping and murdering the minor girl.
    

    According to the doctors, the girl was murdered after being brutally tortured.
