    PTI’s Aleem Khan resigns as minister to maintain neutrality of his ‘news channel’

    Punjab Minister of Food Abdul Aleem Khan has resigned from the provincial cabinet headed by Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Usman Buzdar.

    Aleem took to Twitter to announce his resignation and tweeted, “I am grateful to them [government] for accepting my request. I am sending my resignation to CM Buzdar.”

    He revealed that he has met with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and persuaded him that it is important for him [Aleem] to resign.

    “In today’s meeting with the PM, I have persuaded him that in order to maintain neutrality with regard to my news channel Samaa News, it is necessary for me not to hold any government post. Therefore, accept my resignation as Punjab Minister of Food,” tweeted Aleem.

    After the alleged audiotape of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, Samaa News, a private news channel ran a news story, claiming that CJP Nasir’s clip appeared to be “pieced together” from two of his own speeches.

    In September, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leader Aleem Khan officially became the owner of Samaa News.

    Former Pakistan Captain and Coach Misbah-ul-Haq has blasted haters for saying that the Pakistan cricket team is performing better after he resigned as the head coach just before the T20 World Cup.

    Misbah, while talking to the media on Muslim Gymkhana’s annual match occasion said: “Well done to those who think that the team has started to perform better after my departure. I am also happy to see the Pakistan team winning.”

    “We all want Pakistan to perform better,” he added.

    About Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez’s future, he said: “The cricketers themselves can make a better decision regarding their future. They know better how long they can play for the national team and play their part in victories.”

    As Pakistan started their two-match test series against Bangladesh today, Misbah stated that Pakistan’s Test side is strong and can beat the Tigers at their home.

    “The team is performing well under Babar Azam’s captaincy, the credit goes to him. While Saqlain Mushtaq is managing the players really well,” Misbah added.

    To replace Misbah and bowling coach Waqar Younis, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Saqlain Mushtaq as interim head coach and Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander as consultant coaches for the mega event.

    Muhammad Faheem, a former employee of a private media news organisation, has committed suicide after being fired from his job. Muhammad Faheem was a “production operator,” according to his press card circulating on social media. As per journalist Waqar Satti, Muhammad Faheem after being fired from his job, started working as an auto rickshaw driver. Later, he committed suicide due to continuing financial problems

    As per a news report, he had earlier also attempted to commit suicide three times. Faheem was found hanging from a fan. The deceased had six children and was the only breadwinner in the family.

    As per a video posted by friends of the deceased, Faheem, in a Facebook status a month earlier, wrote, “I’m Faheem and I need a job.” He also mentioned his contact details in the status.

    The reporter, who made the video, showed the place where the suicide happened, talked to one of Faheem’s daughters, who told him that they would go a week without having food. Faheem was in 70 thousand rupees debt.

    Pakistan ranks 145 out of 180 countries, according to an annual press freedom index report issued in 2020 by Reporters Without Borders. The South Asian nation was listed 142 in the 2019 ranking.

    Singh while addressing a public gathering in Jhunjhunu district said, “Roads should be made like Katrina Kaif’s cheeks.”

    In the purported video from the event, he was heard saying that roads should be like the cheeks of Hema Malini but added that the Baghban diva is “too old”. He then went on to say roads should be like “Katrina Kaif’s cheeks”.

    Earlier in 2005, Lalu Prasad Yadav received backlash when he had promised to make Bihar’s roads as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks. Madhya Pradesh law minister PC Sharma brought back the analogy in 2019 when he said the state’s pothole-ridden roads would soon be made “pretty” like the Dream Girl star’s cheeks.

    Journalist Ahmad Noorani says linking ‘an incident of attack in Lahore’ with his Saqib Nisar audio leak is ‘incorrect’

    Investigative Journalist Ahmad Noorani has clarified the story about the attack on his wife by saying that “linking an attack incident with his [former Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar] story is incorrect.”

    He tweeted, “Many media persons and friends are connecting an incident of attack in Lahore with me and my recent story about Justice Saqib Nisar’s audio. This is incorrect. I have stated many times and I reiterate that a high-powered judicial commission should probe all allegations against Saqib Nisar.”

    Earlier, it was reported that his wife Ambreen Fatima was attacked in Lahore on Wednesday.

    Punjab Police, confirming the incident tweeted, “An investigation was initiated when the lady in question came to the station with the car,” the statement said, adding that a case had been registered against an unidentified person.

    “Teams led by the concerned Superintendent of Police (SP) are working on arresting and identifying the accused with the help of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras,” police added.

    Moreover, Dawn reported that in a First Information Report (FIR) Ambreen Fatima, who is also a journalist, stated that she and her children left their house at 8pm on Wednesday.

    Her statement reads: “When we reached an adjoining street, an unidentified person raced towards the car and struck the vehicle’s windscreen three to four times with an iron object with the intention to cause me harm.”

    Fatima said the person also hurled death threats before running away.

    Fatima added that she did not have rivalry with anyone and urged police to take action and provide her with protection.

    This suspicious incident took place after her husband, Ahmad Noorani published a story about the former CJP Saqib Nisar, who has become controversial after the alleged audio tape (which story was reported by Ahmad) and a signed affidavit by former Chief Judge (CJ) of the apex court of Gilgit Baltistan Rana M Shamim.

    After the news, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb revealed that she had personally spoken to Fatima about the incident and said Fatima’s strength was admirable.

    PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, while condemning the attack, said that the incident should be investigated at the highest level and the perpetrators should be punished in accordance with the law.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer Azam Nazir Tarar requested the accountability court of Islamabad to shift his client, Maryam Nawaz’s court hearing date as it clashes with her son’s wedding reception. The judge has been requested to change the next hearing on some other date.

    Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar’s son Junaid Safdar’s Valima ceremony is to be held in Lahore on December 17, reports Geo News.

    A rare white lion died, reportedly after his lungs stopped working, at the Karachi Zoo on Wednesday. A representative for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) confirmed the lion’s death, saying it had been sick for the past 13 days with pulmonary tuberculosis.

    “He was being treated by veterinarians but could not recover and died due to his illness at 11 am on Wednesday,” the spokesperson said. However, as per social media reports  the lion has allegedly been starved to death.

    Earlier Journalist Quatrina Hosain posted a video in which the lion was in very poor condition. She also tagged the City Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab in her post, asking him to take the action against those responsible.

    Actor Ayesha Omar took to her Twitter handle to speak up against the lack of funds for animal welfare at Karachi Zoo.

    Actor and writer Yasir Hussain shared the news on his Instagram account while tagging Maryam Nawaz and wrote, “Sher tha aap hi bacha lete.”

    Activist Shaniera Akram also took to her twitter to express her and disappointment.

    Earlier, other celebrities including Ahsan Khan, Areeba Habib, Ahmed Ali Butt and Anoushey Ashraf also up against the trivialising treatment of animals in Karachi Zoo.

    Babar Azam is ‘confident’ ahead of Bangladesh Test series

    Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam is confident that they will be performing well in the Test Championship after playing against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. He said that in a virtual press conference from Chittagong ahead of the first Test.

    The skipper was a bit worried about the unavailability of a batting coach with the side, saying that the Men in Green should have had one but the decision to appoint a batting coach rests with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

    Veteran Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden was appointed by the PCB as batting consultant for the T20 World Cup. He was hired after Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis stepped down from their coaching roles in September.

    Babar Azam spoke about the team’s performance, saying that he expected them to perform well in the series.

    “The batting line-up includes senior players who play spinners well. The players joining the Test squad were playing domestic cricket and we will benefit from this,” he stated.

    He said that this Test series is also important for Pakistan, adding that the team will try to keep up the winning momentum [from the T20 series].

    Babar Azam praised the Test team, saying that he was confident they will perform well in the Test Championship as “there are more matches at home grounds”.

    He said that the Bangladesh team is a dangerous side even in the absence of senior players. Azam said they cannot be taken lightly as conditions are difficult in Bangladesh.

    “It is not easy to play here. We have to focus and play with patience, we will also try to stay on the wicket.”

    The first Test of the two-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh starts tomorrow, November 26, in Chittagong.

    Pakistan’s young pacer Shahnawaz Dahani, who recently made a debut against Bangladesh in the third match of the three-match T20I series, is happy to be back home with his family and “naughty nephew”.

    “Back to home, Larkana. Happy to be with my naughty nephew,” Dahani tweeted, alongside an image of a cheerful boy whom he was holding up.

    Dahani took his maiden international wicket during the series, in the third fixture.

    He clean bowled Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto on the third ball of his first over, hitting the base of the batter’s middle stump to knock the bails off.

    He went on to bowl three overs in the match, giving away 24 runs.

    Prior to the match, Dahani expressed his joy on his debut in a tweet, saying: “Alhamdulillah,I am going to represent my country today. I am extremely happy and excited to play in green. All this happened due to prayers of my mother. Thank you everyone for loving me and supporting me, and Pray that I make my country proud.”

    Dahani also spoke to his mother before the match, seeking her prayers.
