  • Local gold price rises by Rs2,500, reaching Rs245,000 per tola

Local gold price rises by Rs2,500, reaching Rs245,000 per tola

Gold prices in Pakistan increased on Friday, reflecting a similar upward trend in the international markets.

The price per tola (approximately 11.66 grammes) of gold reached Rs245,000, marking a single-day increase of Rs2,500. This comes after a modest gain of Rs500 on Thursday.

The rates for 10 grammes of gold also saw a significant uptick, reaching Rs210,048 following a rise of Rs2,143, as reported by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

This surge in local prices corresponds with a jump in international gold prices, which rose by $21 per ounce to settle at $2,343 (including a premium of $20) on Friday.

Despite these increases in gold prices, silver rates remained unchanged, with the price per tola staying steady at Rs2,650.

The recent volatility in gold prices underscores the impact of international market trends on the local Pakistani market.

Last week, the price of gold reached an all-time high in Pakistan, with a tola selling for Rs252,200.

The fluctuations in precious metal prices are closely monitored by investors and consumers alike, as they reflect broader economic trends and market sentiments.

For gold traders and investors in Pakistan, these price shifts suggest a continuing trend of fluctuation, likely influenced by global economic factors and investor demand.

The APGJSA will continue to provide updates on market trends and price changes as they occur.

Rana Sanaullah wants dosti between Khan and establishment

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah has urged significant political figures in the country to talk to each other, stressing that “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan should also communicate with the establishment.”

Speaking on Samaa TV’s show ‘adeem Malik Live’, he said that the current political situation unfolded because of May 9 riots. “Imran Khan is the cause of political instability in the country and he should accept this.”

The PML-N leader urged political parties and party leaders to give space to each other for open dialogue, as it is essential to understand the political environment.
When questioned about the possibility of direct contact between Imran Khan and the establishment, Sanaullah maintained that the “modality of communication would be determined by the involved parties.”
He asserted while addressing concerns about interference in March 2021 Senate polls that “There is no evidence of establishment intervention.”

Markets like South Africa and Australia have already proven the success of the Jolion HEV, and it is a strong indicator of the quality and performance of the vehicle overall.

SAZGAR has taken a leading role in Pakistan’s green future, with a history of creating and launching phenomenal products in the new energy vehicles segment. Xi tells Blinken US, China should be ‘partners, not rivals’

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday told top US diplomat Antony Blinken that the world’s two biggest economies should be “partners, not rivals”, but that there were a “number of issues” to be resolved in their relations.

Meeting Blinken in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, Xi said the two countries had “made some positive progress” since he met with US President Joe Biden last year, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

“There are still a number of issues that need to be resolved, and there is still room for further efforts,” Xi said.

“I proposed three major principles: mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation,” the Chinese leader added.

“The earth is big enough to hold the common development and… prosperity of China and the United States,” he continued.

“China would be pleased to see a confident and open, prosperous and developing United States,” Xi said.

“We hope the US can also take a positive view of China’s development,” he added.

“When this fundamental problem is solved… relations can truly stabilise, get better, and move forward.”

Court orders Khan, wife to avoid making negative statements against state institutions

An accountability court in Islamabad has instructed former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, to avoid making negative comments about the military and the judiciary. The court also directed the media not to highlight “political or inflammatory” statements made by the couple.

Judge Rana Nasir Javed barred the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and his wife from speaking against state institutions while he disposed of a petition seeking a fair trial in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

According to the court order, the former prime minister made a proactive statement against senior officials of state institutions, including the army and judiciary. The statements not only disturbed the court’s decorum but were also an obstacle to providing justice.

The court directed the prosecution, the accused, and their defence counsel to avoid statements that disrupt the decorum of the court.

Pakistan rejects ‘politically motivated’ US human rights report

Pakistan has rejected the US State Department’s human rights report “2023 Country Report on Human Rights Practices”, terming it “unfair, based on inaccurate information and completely divorced from the ground reality.”

Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch gave a press briefing in which she said, “These reports use a domestic social lens to judge human rights in other countries in a politically biased manner. This year’s report is once again conspicuous by its lack of objectivity and politicisation of the international human rights agenda.”

She pointed out the “double standards” by the United States on humanitarian issues and underscored that the US and the world continue to downplay or ignore the gross human rights violations such as in Gaza and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Baloch said that only a politically motivated report could ignore the alarming situation in Gaza.
