    Amidst it, Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi depicted the crisis situation with a Golmaal meme and obviously, that didn’t go well with the audience.

    Ukraine has also been seeking for help from different countries amid the attacks by Russia. Most states have taken a diplomatic stand and suggested the opposite countries to sort out matters with a peaceful conversation.

    Arshad took to his Twitter account and shared a meme from his comedy flick, Golmaal. The clip featured the actor alongside Ajay Devgn, Sharman Joshi and Rimi Sen. He marked each of the characters as America, Russia, Ukraine, and rebel-held sections of Ukraine.

    “Self-explanatory… Golmaal was a film that was extremely ahead of its time,” Arshad Warsi captioned his tweet.

    As expected, the meme did not go very well with netizens who began backlashing Arshad for his post.

    A netizen wrote, “As much as I respect you as an artist, trying to make fun of a war situation is a little insensitive to my taste, sir.”

    Owing to all the hate, The actor ended up deleting his tweet.

    The PML-Q has asked the Opposition for the Chief Ministership in Punjab and stated that no compromise will be made on anything less than that.

    In case of getting Chief Ministership, the PML-Q has assured the success of in-house transformation in Punjab and Center. The PML-Q has said that it will fully support the Opposition at the center.

    However, the PML-Q, while opposing the immediate new elections in the country, has said that the National Assembly elections should be held if necessary but the term of the Provincial Assemblies should complete their duration.

    Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had a Summit meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow yesterday. The two leaders held wide-ranging consultations on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, stated the PM Office.

    ​”The Prime Minister regretted the latest situation between Russia and Ukraine and said that Pakistan had hoped diplomacy could avert a military conflict. The Prime Minister stressed that conflict was not in anyone’s interest and that the developing countries were always hit the hardest economically in case of conflict. He underlined Pakistan’s belief that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy,” read the statement.

    “The Prime Minister reaffirmed the importance of the Pakistan-Stream Gas Pipeline as a flagship economic project between Pakistan and Russia and also discussed cooperation on prospective energy-related projects. The Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s commitment to forging a long-term, multidimensional relationship with Russia.”

    “PM Khan underlined the urgency of addressing the humanitarian crisis and preventing potential economic meltdown in Afghanistan. The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan would continue to work with the international community for a stable, peaceful, and connected Afghanistan. In this regard, he underscored the ongoing cooperation and coordination between Pakistan and Russia at various international and regional fora, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO),” said PMO.

    ​”On the situation in South Asia, the Prime Minister highlighted the serious human rights situation in IIOJK and underscored the imperative of peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.     “Expressing concerns on rising trends of extremism and Islamophobia in the world, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for interfaith harmony and coexistence.     PM Khan, along with members of the cabinet and senior officials, was on a two-day visit to Russia.

    Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant-General Nadeem Anjum, has made it clear to all officials of the ISI that no interference in politics and political matters would be tolerated, reports Ansar Abbasi for The News.

    The incumbent DG ISI is said to have decided soon after he joined the office to keep the institution away from politics.

    Lt-Gen Nadeem Anjum had conveyed to all the concerned authorities not to release to the media his pictures or video footage taken during official meetings.

    In relevance to the directives, none of his pictures or video footage taken during official meetings has so far been published or shown on TV channels.

    Last week, a picture was released by the Prime Minister’s (PM) Office of a luncheon hosted by PM Imran Khan in honour of Bill Gates. The picture in which PM Khan and Bill Gates are sitting with Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar, Mahmood Khan, Azam Khan, Shaukat Tarin, Shah Farman, Khalid Khurshid, and several others at the main table.

    If one looks at the picture closely, someone between Dr Faisal Sultan and Mahmood Khan seems to be ‘missing’.

    The Current reached out to its sources and confirmed that it was the DG ISI Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum who had been photoshopped from the luncheon meeting picture.

    Lahore’s Fakhar Zaman makes new record in PSL, leaves Babar behind

    Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars’ batter Fakhar Zaman has registered a new record to his name and has left Babar Azam behind him after scoring the most runs in a PSL edition.

    In the ongoing PSL 2022 matches, in the match against Multan Sultans, Zaman broke Azam’s record of 554 runs in 2021 PSL.

    The swashbuckling opener made a staggering 63-run knock and his innings was laced with two fours and four maximum, which increased his runs to 584 runs in PSL 2022 while Multan Sultans’ skipper Mohammad Rizwan is right behind him with 532 runs to his name.

    Earlier, Zaman achieved the milestone of becoming the second-highest run-getter in the entire history of PSL after racking up 1,935 runs.

    Sultans made 163 for the loss of two wickets in their innings while in reply, Qalandars were cruising nicely at 102/3 in the 14th over before they suffered a collapse and ultimately finished at 135/9.

    The half-century against Multan was Fakhar’s 8th score of 50 so far in this edition of PSL, which is also the most numbers of 50+ scores in a single edition of PSL.

    Interestingly, Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Rizwan has also scored 7 scores of 50 this season, and he can break Fakhar Zaman’s record.

    A sessions court in Islamabad has sentenced Zahir Jaffer to death for the murder of Noor Mukadam. The co-accused, staff members at Zahir’s house who aided in keeping Noor in Zahir’s house, Iftikhar and Jameel have been sentenced to ten years in jail. Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani announced the verdict. All other accused are acquitted, including Zahir’s parents and TherapyWorks staff, reports Dawn.

    Zahir, his father Zakir Jaffer, mother Asmat Adamjee and other suspects were present in the court when the verdict was announced.

    An Islamabad sessions court reserved its verdict in the Noor Mukadam murder case on Feburary 22. Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani has fixed the judgement, as the arguments and trial have been completed.

    Noor Mukadam was brutally murdered at a residence in Islamabad’s upscale Sector F-7/4 on July 20. Her death sparked national outrage, including protests and candlelight vigils across the country. The Islamabad police arrested Zahir Jaffer on the night of July 20 from his house. The murder trial began in October 2021.

    United States (US) State Department Spokesperson Ned Price responded to a question related to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s Russia visit.

    “We believe it’s the responsibility of every responsible country around the world to voice concern and to voice objection to what Putin appears to have in mind for Ukraine,” said Price.

    Price’s comments in relevance to PM Khan’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

    PM Khan landed in Moscow for a two-day visit — from February 23-24 — to push for the construction of a long-delayed, multi-billion-dollar gas pipeline to be built in collaboration with Russian companies.

    World leaders have also voiced their concern about Russia’s action on Ukraine.

    President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky said, “Ukraine is launching its own defensive measures.” He urged Ukrainians to stay calm and stay home. He says he spoke to President Biden.

    “A minute ago I spoke to President Biden. The USA has started to unite international support,” said Zelensky.

    “Today we need each of you to stay calm. If you can, stay at home. We are working. The army is working. The whole security and defence sector of Ukraine is working,” said Zelensky.

    Prime Minister United Kingdom (UK) Boris Johnson tweeted, “President Putin has chosen a path of bloodshed and destruction by launching this unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The UK and our allies will respond decisively.”

    President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen tweeted, “In these dark hours, our thoughts are with Ukraine and the innocent women, men, and children as they face this unprovoked attack and fear for their lives.”

    Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) António Guterres said, “President Putin, in the name of humanity, bring your troops back to Russia. This conflict must stop now.”

    Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan landed in Moscow for a two-day visit — from February 23-24 — to push for the construction of a long-delayed, multi-billion-dollar gas pipeline to be built in collaboration with Russian companies.

    Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Igor Morgulov welcomed the Prime Minister.

    While walking on the red carpet, PM Khan said, “What a time I have come, so much excitement.”

    “Let me tell you, we are so excited to come to Moscow,” said PM Khan.

    PM Khan will see Russian President Vladimir Putin in a one-on-one three-hour-long meeting today at 3pm Pakistan time, amid the Ukraine-Russia crisis.

    The meeting has been extended from one hour to three. Earlier the meeting was to be held for one hour.

    Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine on Thursday with explosions heard soon after in the capital and other parts of the country.

    In an interview ahead of his trip, PM Imran Khan had expressed concern about the situation in Ukraine and the possibility of new sanctions and their effect on Islamabad’s budding cooperation with Moscow.

    Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has praised young Multan Sultans’ pacer Shahnawaz Dahani for his performance in the Qualifier match of Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandars with 28 runs to reach the Final for the second consecutive time on Wednesday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

    Taking to Twitter, Afridi lauded “champions” Multan Sultans for their outstanding performance. While talking about Dahani, he wrote: “So pleased to see Dahani deliver to his incredible potential today just the way he performed last year.”

    Replying to Afridi, Dahani said: “It’s always pleasing to receive an appreciation from a legend like you Lala @SAfridiOfficial bhai. Thank you so much for your wishes for our team @MultanSultans & kind words for me.”

    Before the Qualifier match, Afridi had advised Dahani to focus on his game rather than wasting time on celebrations. “First you do something in life and then celebrate like that. It will have more impact then,” Afridi said on Samaa TV.

    Dahani picked up three crucial wickets of Harry Brook (13), Phil Salt (1) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (1) to finish with figures three of 19. He was given Player of the Match award for his outstanding figures.

    He also took a sublime catch of Samit Patel to bring the match closer into Sultans’ grasp.

    Now the Sultans will take Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi or Lahore Qalandars in the final of PSL 2022 on February 27.

    Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer and Pakistan cricket team coach Waqar Younis took to his Twitter to laud the young pacer.

    “Impossible to catch Dhani @ShahnawazDahani when he’s on the roll. Wonderful spell of bowling and exceptional energy on the field,” Waqar wrote.

    Waqar also congratulated Multan and Mohammad Rizwan for reaching the Final.
